Please be sure to read through all directions and entire pattern before beginning. These booties are worked in the round. Be sure to use your stitch marker while you work to keep track of your place.

Materials required for this project:

*Size 4 worsted weight yarn in the following colors: black, white, grey.

*G hook for newborn size

*H hook for 0-3 month size

*Stitch marker

*Scissors

*Darning needle

Stitches used:

Single crochet – sc

Chain – ch

Slip stitch- ss

Half double crochet- hdc

Double crochet decrease- dc dec

Single crochet decrease- sc dec

The newborn size has a sole that is approximately 3” in length. The 0-3 month size has a sole that is approximately 3.25” in length. Use the G hook to obtain newborn size and the H hook to obtain the 0-3 month size. I crochet rather tightly, so make sure to measure the sole of your bootie at the end of row 2 to confirm the length. Use a larger or smaller hook to obtain the correct size if my hook suggestions are not working appropriately for you.

To begin, ch 10 using white yarn.

Row 1. sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 7, 3 sc in last ch. Working on the other side of the chain, sc in the next 7 st, 2 sc in last st. (25)

Row 2. hdc in 8 st, 2 hdc in next 5 st, hdc in last 7 st. (25)

Row 3. sc in each st around in back loops only. (25)

Switch to black yarn.

Row 4. sc in each st around in both loops. (25)

Row 5. sc in 8 st, 4 dc dec, sc in 9 st (21)

Row 6. sc in 9 st, 2 dc dec, sc in 8 st (19)

Row 7. sc in 8 st, 3 sc dec, sc in 5 st. (16)

Rows 8-11. sc in each st around. (16)

Finish off and weave in ends.

Skates

Using grey yarn, ch 11

Row 1. sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1, turn (10)

Row 2. sc in each st, ch 1, turn (10)

Row 3. sc in each st, ch 1, turn (10)

Row 4. Fold in half length wise and sc across going through both the stitch on the front half and back half, ch 1, turn (10)

Row 5. sc in 3 st, ch 1, turn (3)

Row 6. sc in 3 st (3)

Finish off leaving a tail for sewing onto the skate.

Connect grey to opposite end of skate and repeat rows 5 & 6.

Sew skate to bottom of bootie using the long tails.

Cut two 20” strands of white yarn. Using your darning needle, lace the white yarn through the front of your bootie as seen in the photos below. Lace one end in at a time. Tie your laces and cut the ends of the yarn to your desired length.

All finished! What did you think of the pattern? Was it easy to follow? Drop me a comment below or shoot me an e-mail, I’d love to hear from you!

As always, happy crocheting. (:
