Newsboy Cap Crochet Pattern

I have a beautiful friend who is growing a sweet little baby girl right now as we speak. A while ago she requested an adorable newsboy cap inspired hat along with some matching booties. I wrote the pattern down while I worked up the cap so that I could share them with you all for free. Armed Forces day is coming up this Saturday, so it is perfect timing to share this camo cap with you all.

I hope you find the pattern easy to follow and that your finished product is exactly what you were hoping for. Be sure to read the directions and pattern all the way through before you begin. This pattern is available in both newborn and 0-3 months size.

*Please note that I crochet rather tightly. If your hats are not measuring the same as mine (I inserted an approximate measurement after a few rows), feel free to use a smaller hook size.

These hats are initially worked in the round, but the brim requires you to turn your work as stated in the pattern. Use your stitch marker to keep your place at the beginning of every row.

Materials Needed:

US size H hook

Worsted weight yarn (I used Red Heart Yarn’s camo, pink and paddy green)

1 small button for sewing onto your flower applique

Thread for sewing on the button

Sewing needle

Darning needle

Scissors

Stitch marker

Measuring tape

Stitches Required:

Slip stitch- ss

Chain- ch

Single crochet- sc

Double crochet- dc

Triple crochet- tc

Half double crochet- hdc

Back loops only- BLO
